Keeping a positive mindset is not always an easy task, but it’s critical to your success.
Staying positive does NOT mean you have to ignore the realities of your everyday life – but in order to get what you want, you have to change your energy. Your energy and your mindset creates the path for you to be able to get what you want.
How to Keep a Positive Mindset when Your Goals Feel Impossible
How can you stay positive when your goals feel impossible, or when you don’t see anything moving, or when you tried something and it didn’t work?
You need to get in the feeling of having.
I have put together an exercise that you can repeat, to keep bringing yourself back into the feeling of having whenever you need it. This can be as frequent as every morning! You need to practice mindset, regardless of any other beliefs you may have.
To Keep a Positive Mindset, First, Think About Your Goal
You can write this down or just think about it. Decide on a goal that you are going to concentrate on for this exercise. The goal can be anything: how much money you want to see in your savings, how much debt you want to clear in the next 6 months, purchasing a house, anything!
Why Is Your Goal Important? How Will Reaching Your Goal Change Your Life?
My goals are income related: I have a certain amount I would like to see in my savings account and X amount of sales I would like to hit in a month’s time.
Examples of why these goals may be important to you are: you can pay off debts, you can hire a virtual assistant, you can invest in a tool you have been thinking about, you can take your kids on vacation, etc.
“Having a $10k month would allow me to breathe. I could pay off my personal loan, which has a really high payment – I can then save the funds that would usually go toward the payment.”
Be specific with your goals. When thinking of income related goals, don’t round – take it all the way out to pennies. The more specific you can be with your goals, the easier it will be to manifest.
Imagine a Conversation Where You Already Met Your Goal
Imagine you’re having a phone call, or grabbing a coffee with a friend.
“Hey. How are you doing?”
I’m great, I just had my first $10k month with my business. I have been working so hard toward this. I’m just so excited.
“Wow. You just had your first $10k month? How did you do that? How do you feel?”
Well, I’ve been working on a lot of new ads and creating tonnes of content. I’ve been doing a lot of outreach and have just been slowly building up the launch. I actually exceeded my goal a little bit, went slightly over $10k. Man, it really feels good to finally pay off that personal loan that I have; now I can start saving more money. I can finally plan a small trip with my family to a lake for the weekend in an AirBnb.

When your goals feel out of reach, it is common to have negative thoughts.
One way to deal with this is to take note of where your abundances are. Sometimes God/Universe doesn’t give us something we asked for because it’s making room for something bigger and different.
When I think back to my launches that didn’t go too well, I realized they weren’t actually optimal for my business. Sometimes we just don’t get what we want because we need space for something else, what we wanted at the time may have been problematic for what was to come.
Things aren’t happening by coincidence, they are happening because they are supposed to, whether we want them to at the time or not. Practice recognizing the abundances. Noticing these things will help you keep a positive mindset.
Even when you don’t meet your goal, keep pushing. You can outperform people who are more talented by being consistent. Most people won’t be consistent and will either just quit, or pivot too many times, losing momentum.
You can’t fail if you don’t quit!
Write this down as an affirmation. After taking these steps, the end result of this exercise will provide you with the feeling of having.
So, far from ignoring reality, keeping a positive mindset is about embracing your reality for everything it can be.
So, next time you are struggling to stay positive, remember to practice this routine:
- Visualize your goal.
- Remember why it’s important.
- Imagine a conversation where it has already happened.
- Focus on your abundance.
- Don’t quit.
Let me know how this routine impacts your positive mindset!
